Engineering for a Smarter Future

I’m Fardin Kabir, a Graduate Research Assistant and Master’s researcher at Multimedia University, Malaysia.

My work focuses on metamaterial-based compact antennas for Sub-6 GHz 5G IoT applications and embedded mechatronic systems such as UAV-based environmental monitoring and intelligent sensing platforms. I enjoy turning simulation models and circuit designs into real, tested hardware for modern wireless and IoT systems.

Research and Project Overview

Designing Solutions for Tomorrow

01
Metamaterial-Based Compact Antenna Design for Sub-6GHz Application

Performance enhancement techniques using SRR and DGS structures to improve bandwidth and gain. Simulation and optimization of antenna performance through full-wave electromagnetic analysis. Integration for practical IoT systems, enabling lightweight, low-cost, and space-efficient antennas for smart sensors, drones, and communication modules.

02

Sensing System for Air Quality and Temperature in UAV Based Monitoring System

Developed an integrated sensor system to measure air quality and temperature onboard an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Implemented wireless data transfer for real-time visualization through an IoT dashboard. Evaluated sensor performance in terms of accuracy, reliability, and environmental responsiveness during UAV operation.

03

Pothole Detection System Using On-Board Camera and Ultrasonic Sensor

Designed a dual-input pothole detection system combining ultrasonic distance sensing and camera-based image capture. Integrated proximity sensor readings and camera triggers on a main control board with an additional expansion board for ultrasonic sensing. Achieved portable and vehicle-mountable data collection for pothole mapping using GPS, enabling low-cost road condition monitoring.
